What is there to do at Windsor Castle?

One of the most popular attractions at Windsor Castle is the changing of the guards. This is similar to the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace in central London. Changing of the guards takes around 30 minutes and usually occurs at around 11am on Mondays to Saturdays from April until the end of July. For the rest of the year it happens on alternate days – depending on the weather.
Audio tours in a variety of languages are also available at the attraction as part of the admission price. The audio tour is specific to the room that you are in and an in depth commentary is available.
Visiting St George’s Chapel within the grounds of the castle gives you an opportunity to view a great example of gothic architecture in England. The chapel construction began in 1475 and has hosted many royal weddings, including the recent wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Another attraction is the ceremonial route that shows you the main State Apartments at Windsor Castle. These are used by the Royal Family today. The historic route shows you the State Apartments that were built for Charles II and Catherine of Braganza.
Paintings by famous artists hang on the walls around the Castle in different rooms which are worth admiring whilst visiting.
